Based on the reviews I was expecting a bit more from this place, was really looking forward to my first Louisiana meal to be as delicious as I've heard people rave about all my life.

Great, iconic seafood restaurant in Harahan. Usually crowded for a reason - the food and service here are excellent. I got the fried trout, it was perfect. I’ve had a few dishes here over the years and I’ve never been disappointed.
Loved the food! I ordered the black and gold, which was really good redfish. While I'm not usually a fan of fried foods, I got to try some of the fried appetizers and they were delicious. The service was fast and attentive, and an added bonus—they are one of the only places in the area with glass Dr. Pepper readily available! If you enjoy fried seafood, love a cozy environment with good service, or need somewhere to eat in Harahan, Charles Seafood is for you!
The food was really good we had the seafood platter that looked more like a small version of a platter. Not much food for the price. The gumbo was fantastic! The soft shell crab my husband really enjoyed.
The place was very clean, the service was fantastic and the food tasted excellent! The only thing was the small portion of the seafood platter, usually when we order a platter we get two plates and divide it equally between us. The platter is not as big as other places for the price. So you decide more money and the food is smaller than most but the taste is phenomenal, or more food and take your chances somewhere else. I don't know if we went on a good day or if they just keep their grease for frying changed and clean daily. So my review is a fantastic place to eat fresh clean but pricey for what you get! Enjoy 😊

Made a big order and order notes were totally messed up. Fish undercooked missing items on platters and no rice with bowl of gumbo. Had to drive all the way back to Harahan to have order corrected.
I have been going to Charles seafood in the past and always had a good experience. Excellent food and all the waitresses were very nice with beautiful smiles. Especially Leslie very special with her service and big smile. My Oyster poor boy was amazing.
Got shrimp Po-Boys to go and they were great. Tons of shrimp on the poboy and the bread was really good. I want to go and eat in the restaurant. Big bins of cooked crabs and you and buy them by the each which is nice. Fun atmosphere and everyone was nice.
